Ike is heading toward Houston — Cat 3 — Time to Evacuate

Where are the NBC, MSNBC and CNN anchors? Why aren’t they interested in the fourth largest city in the U.S.? Why did they all spend so much time to cover the storms in New Orleans?

(Because they were hoping to keep the U.S. voters’ attention away from the Republican National Convention.)

Then came Hurricane Sarah.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. not including the population of Galveston. Imagine 5 million people on the move. It’s like scenes in the movies Independence Day and Asteroid.

Gas stations are already running out of regular. Wal-Mart shelves are wiped clean of water and toilet paper.

Why are people so concerned about toilet paper before natural disasters? I’d think your rectum would be the least of your worries.

I think local TV stations and grocery stores like Ike.

How about selling hurricane names to major sponsors — Hurricane Ikea.

You might remember I posted a suggestion that McCain/Palin and Bush will coordinate humanitarian aid to Cuba. Though my post didn’t raise many eyebrows, someone agrees with me in Washington DC.

Look at this:

Evacuations appeared to have saved lives in Cuba when Ike slammed into the island. Four deaths were reported from the storm, according to the Cuban government. The Cuban Civil Defense brought buses or trucks to take people to shelters. Photo See the damage from the storm »

The United States, which provided $100,000 in emergency aid to communist-run Cuba through private aid agencies after Hurricane Gustav hit the island August 30, said that it was considering additional emergency aid for Cuba because of Ike. Video Watch as winds and waves pound Cuba »

It is 9-11 — 35 percent of the Democrat Party voters believe Bush was behind it.

The Edwards coverup helped Obama win nomination, knock out Hillary

It doesn’t take a political insider to figure out that the year-long cover up by the major media of Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards’ duel life cost Hillary Clinton the presidency. The mainstream media ignored the National Enquirer. Blogs caught on and the news of the ego-maniac Edwards couldn’t be shut down.

Can Hillary’s supporters expose who knew about Edwards and Hunter and when? What did Sen. Jim Webb know and when?

ABC reports:

Now what will happen  in Denver?

Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic presidential nominee if John Edwards had been caught in his lie about an extramarital affair and forced out of the race last year, insists a top Clinton campaign aide, making a charge that could exacerbate previously existing tensions between the camps of Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama.

“I believe we would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee,” former Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson told ABCNews.com.

Clinton finished third in the Iowa caucuses barely behind Edwards in second place and Obama in first. The momentum of the insurgent Obama camaign beating two better-known candidates — not to mention an African-American winning in such an overwhelmingly white state — changed the dynamics of the race forever.

Let’s see Obama’s plans on issues such as ‘free health care’ for everyone

The Democrats have done a good job with high minded sounding goals such as “free or universal health care for all Americans.” Question: who do these politicians think are Americans? Are illegal immigrants Americans? Do we have mainstream reporters who will ask Sen. Obama? Where is the money going to come from to pay for 30 million illegals’ health care?

What percentage of illegal immigrants carry auto insurance, let alone health insurance?

Obama has said, proudly and often, “I am going to give health insurance to 47 million Americans who are now without coverage.” But are they “Americans?”That 47 million statistic includes illegal immigrants – who virtually all lack insurance. In fact, about one in four of those lacking insurance is here illegally. And they are, by far, the group most in need of health insurance. — Reported by Dick Morris.

“We can’t drill our way out of the energy crisis.” We can’t? Why not try? Most of the U.S. coastline has not been explored. Wouldn’t it be better for every U.S. citizen if there was more enegry coming to market? What are Americans going to do with their 100 million cars sell them to third world countries as we convert overnight to minielectric carts at $30,000 per auto? Where are the factories putting out millions of batteries? What kind of footprint will those tons of batteries have on the evnironment? What is the realistic timeline?

The land of the freebies.

Covering millions of poor illegal families with free healthcare will bust our system. And would encourage more poor to enter America illegally. Within a few more years of this mass migration to the land of the freebies, and the U.S. will become a failed state.

Oil at $8 per gallon will shut down the system. People won’t be able to afford to go to work.

I can’t help but think many Democrats are looking forward to that.

Gas is still under $4 in Texas

I haven’t paid more than $3.859 for gas yet.  That’s about half what Europeans are paying for gas.

Imagine my friends what the price of gas would be today had Clinton not vetoed the bill to allow limited exploration of ANWR,  passed by Congress way back in the ’90s. We would be paying $2.50 today.

Can you imagine the wealth that  the Democrats have kept bottled up?  Instead of the UAE buying the Chrysler Building, U.S. companies could be buying up Paris and London icons.

Someday push will come to bitch slap and we will be drilling off our coasts.

Californians will always pay more, they have the highest taxes on gas in the nation.

They also have potentially billions of barrels of oil off the coast.

It’s not easy being green.

Al Gore compares drilling in America to the invasion of Iraq.

Al Gore compares drilling for oil in America to war in Iraq

In a surprise appearance at Netroots Nation — which apparently was the worst-kept secret in Austin, Texas — former Vice President Al Gore followed up a speech by Nancy Pelosi by laying out a narrative on climate change and the energy crisis that seems ready-made for the Obama campaign to download.

“If you look at the seriousness of the climate crisis, you see how it ties to the economic crisis and the national security threat that we face,” he said. “200 billion dollars are being sent overseas just from oil.”

“The idea that we can drill our way out of this is just so absurd,” he said, comparing the push for offshore oil drilling — which has gained popularity and put environmentalists on the defense — to dealing with a hangover by having another drink.

China and Cuba drilling for oil off Florida’s coast. The Democrats say the U.S. can’t.

Mick Gregory

The Republicans have hit a political gusher. The Democrat/socialists hiding under the friendly Green flag of environmentalism are being exposed today. I predict the Democrats will vote against the issue of drilling off U.S. coasts.

This while Cuba and China begin drilling off the Florida/Cuba shore. They will have their straw in our oil reserve milkshake.

Next, I predict, President Bush will issue an Executive Order opening up drilling.

The coastal reserves are estimated to be 18 billion barrels from 20-year-old studies. That is the short estimate equal to the amount of oil the U.S. would produce in almost 10 years (that’s 3,600 days producing 5 million barrels per day). The coastal reserves are also nearly equal to what some experts believe can be recovered at Anwar Reserve in Alaska. The reserve that the Democrats and Jimmy Carter put under lock and key over 20 years ago as well.

Tonight, look for the new reality show called “Black Gold” syndicated on cable channels across the country on TruTV. It’s a show that drills down into the ongoing oil explorations going on in West Texas today.

The U.S. still has oil! In fact, almost 70 percent of the oil in mature wells, some over 100 years old, is attainable with today’s technology.

The timing is right for U.S. oil industry stocks to rise. Meanwhile, the world market of crude will soon fall to below $100 in my guestimation.

Four major league oil companies are in negotiations for contracts that will return them to Iraq, 36 years after losing their oil concession to nationalization as Saddam Hussein socialized the oil companies and grabbed power.

Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total, BP and Chevron — and a number of oil-service companies, are in talks with Iraq’s Oil Ministry for contracts to service Iraq’s largest fields, according to press releases.

The deals, expected to be announced on June 30, will begin the first commercial work for the major companies in Iraq since Hussein ordered the burning of his country’s oil fields and the start of the Iraq war.

UPDATE: Time to ask why the Democrat Congress doesn’t do anything about the oil crisis.

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

Five of America’s top energy company executives called before Congress. Where is Citgo?

Five U.S. oil company executives are scheduled to “testify” at the Capitol on Tuesday about soaring crude oil prices and prices at the gas pump of over $3.20 per gallon.

Why wasn’t Citgo invited to the interrogations? What is the profit margin for the energy companies? It is 8 percent. That’s about half of the New York Times, LA Times and Houston Chronicle’s profit margins.

Executives from the three biggest U.S.-based oil companies — Exxon Mobil, Chevron Corp and ConocoPhillips will attend, as well as U.S. representatives of BP and Royal Dutch Shell.

With accusatory questions expected from Democrats on the panel, oil executives will have to simply point to U.S. crude oil prices, which have skyrocketed from below $20 per barrel in early 2002 to a record $111.80 a barrel earlier this month. Approximately 44 gallons of gasoline are in one barrel. Heavy sour crude oil takes more processing expense to produce the equivalent in light, sweet crude.

“Gasoline and diesel prices are being set in what we consider to be a crude-driven market,” said Red Cavaney, president of the American Petroleum Institute, which lobbies on behalf of big U.S. oil companies.

A good question to ask is why not Citgo? How can an OPEC member be trading and pumping up prices on the New York Mercantile exchange while being members of a cartel that benefits from raising the price of crude?

Do the Democrats have a basic understanding of business and markets?

How about leasing exploritory drilling in Alaska and off shore? More supply lowers demand and price. It’s simple Eco 101.

Will Hillary or Obama chime in? This could be good. Will the famous Democrat from California speak up, Henry Waxman?
